DTaP Vaccine

What is Diptheria?

Diptheria is a serious throat condition caused by a bacterium. The germ secretes a toxin that irritates the lining of the throat and upper lungs. Symptoms include severe coughing and difficulty breathing. It is spread like the common cold.

A mild case involves a sore throat and white coating on the tonsils or in the nose. The illness may run its course without any treatment, or it may worsen. A mild case will present swollen neck glands, labored breathing, and require intravenous antitoxins and antibiotics. Severe cases can occur if the diagnosis and treatment are delayed.

What is Tetanus?

Tetanus is an acute infectious disease caused by a bacterium that lives in soil, dirt, rusty metals, and unsterilized needles. It can also live in the intestinal system of certain animals and pass into the soil via their stool.

Once introduced, the germs multiply and secrete a toxin that enters the nerves and gradually causes paralysis. One of the first symptoms is paralysis of the jaw muscles.

If the tetanus is local, an antibiotic will be given to kill the bacteria. And a TIG shot will be given to neutralize any toxins still floating around the body tissues.

If the tetanus is generalized, the toxin will spread into the spinal cord and brain. If it spreads too far, antibiotics will be given and the patient will be hospitalized in an ICU for many weeks, requiring life support in many cases.

What is Pertussis?

Pertussis is most commonly known as whooping cough. It is caused by a bacterium that infects the upper lungs, causing severe irritation and damage to the lining of the upper lungs and throat.

Symptoms start off the same as a common cold, and then worsen into a prolonged cough so severe a person can barely breathe, and when breaths are possible they sound like a gasping "whoop" (usually not present in infants less than one).

It is transmitted like the common cold and can last as long as three months, even with treatment.

Fortunately, most cases are mild. A moderate case can involve coughing spells that can cause infants or young children to turn blue. Severe cases require ICU care - requiring oxygen, IV fluids, and suctioning of secretions.

Are They Common?

Diptheria: No. There has not been a recorded case in the United States since 2003 (IDPH).

Tetanus: No. From 2009-2017 there were 264 cases and 19 deaths reported. 23% cases were 65yrs+, 64% of cases were 20-64yrs, and 13% of cases were younger than 20. All deaths occurred among patients older than 55 (CDC).

Pertussis: Yes. There is typically a rise and fall pattern of Pertussis every 5 years. In 2015 we saw 20,762 cases. The number slowly decreased to 2,116 in 2021, and then slowly increased to 3,044 in 2022 (CDC).

Why Some Get DTaP

Diptheria: While extremely rare in the US due to mass vaccination, it is a very dangerous disease. It is also a potential hazard during international travel.

Tetanus: While not a disease in infancy, it is serious when a very rare case does occur in a child. Giving the series while a person is young is a convenient way to make sure a child has protection while he grows up.

Pertussis: It is a common disease and most serious in the first 6 months of life.

Why Some Don’t Get DTaP

Tetanus is not an infant disease, and virtually all cases occur in adults. Diptheria is also virtually nonexistent in the US - so many parents feel comfortable skipping the tetanus and diptheria shots. The problem is, there is no pertussis only vaccine. So skipping the DTaP because you don't think baby needs D and T protection leaves him vulnerable to P, but giving the DTaP series for P protection also gives baby vaccines for two diseases he is unlikely to get. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is no way around this.

Options to Consider

The DTaP vaccine does contain aluminum. If you are concerned about aluminum, you can tell your doctor you will only allow your child to receive one aluminum-containing vaccine at a time.

If you are going to choose a combination vaccine, Pentacel (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, HIB) has lower aluminum content. Or If you would rather, you can choose Daptacel which contains just diptheria, tetanus, and pertussis).

You can also do a vaccine detox afterwards.

Detoxing Aluminum Vaccines with Silica

It is shown that taking Silica during the time of Aluminum exposure can prevent the absorption of Aluminum into the body, which then can be absorbed ultimately in the brain and bones. We use the Eidon Silica brand. It tastes like water and is very easy to give - you can put it right into milk, formula, juice, etc.

SILICA DOSAGES

<10 lbs: 2 drops (NOT DROPPERFULS) twice per day for two weeks

10-20 lbs 3-4 drops (NOT DROPPERFULS) twice per day for two weeks

20-30 lbs 5-6 drops (NOT DROPPERFULS) twice per day for two weeks

30-40 lbs 6-8 drops (NOT DROPPERFULS) twice per day for two weeks

"Most vaccines contain aluminum, and aluminum is a proven neurotoxin, in amounts received from vaccines. Even the aluminum in a single vaccine can be harmful because the aluminum is in a form that is more dangerous than ingested aluminum. Specifically, vaccine aluminum is in nanoparticulate form, which is harder for the body to eliminate, and is transported around the body differently than ingested aluminum.

Silica naturally has a high affinity for aluminum. Silica naturally reacts with aluminum, forming aluminosilicate: Silica + aluminum = aluminosilicate (surprising, I know).

Aluminosilicates are nontoxic and almost biologically inert. So silica effectively detoxifies aluminum by converting it into aluminosilicate, which is eliminated by the kidneys. This reaction between silica and aluminum can occur inside the body, and is believed to be an important mechanism for aluminum detoxification for many animals (including snails for example)."

Detoxing Vaccines with Liposomal Vitamin C

Vitamin C has strong antitoxin properties. It can even neutralize the toxic nature of mercury (NIH), which could be especially beneficial paired with mercury containing vaccines, like the Flu shot.

According to Dr. Thomas E. Levy, "Vitamin C has been documented to augment the antibody response of the immune system. As the goal of any vaccination is to stimulate a maximal antibody response to the antigens of the vaccine while causing minimal to no toxic damage to the most sensitive of vaccine recipients, there would appear to be no medically sound reason not to make Vitamin C a part of all vaccination protocols (1)."

A review of the world literature on Vitamin C and vaccine reactions in animals showed that supplementing with Vitamin C has a protective effect (2). Research has also shown that Vitamin C reduces the morbidity and the mortality following injection of bacterial and toxins in guinea pigs, rats, and mice.

A 2017 study showed that Vitamin C supplementation improved the efficacy of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine in guinea pigs (3).

Studies of aborigines in Australia by Kalokerinos have also reported on the highly protective effects of Vitamin C in children (4).

Mix 1/2 to 1 tsp (1 tsp = 1,000 mg) in juice, water, formula, milk, etc. for 7 days BEFORE vaccine, and 7 days AFTER vaccine. Reduce dosage if diarrhea occurs.

Detoxing Vaccines with Bentonite Clay and Epsom Salt

After receiving a vaccine you can do what's called "mudding" the injection site and the tops and bottoms of feet. All you need is Bentonite Clay and Medi-Mineral Serum. (Or if you just have Bentonite Clay and don't want to get the serum, that's better than nothing). Mix a few TBSP of the clay with a few tsp of the serum (or water if not using serum) to make a paste. Apply on the injection site and tops and bottoms of feet. Leave for 20-30 minutes (you can wrap with plastic wrap to make cleanup easier). Do this 1x/day for 3 days after receiving vaccine.

Soak in a bath with 1/2-1 c of Epsom salt for 10 minutes to help sulfur levels in the body to increase detoxification process (day of vaccine, and 3-4 days after). Be mindful of how long you stay in as too much epsom salt can cause fatigue.
